How this is worked out

Returns compound monthly and contributions are added at the end of each month, which is how a monthly savings plan actually executes.
The return you enter is applied evenly to every year. Real markets do not do this. A portfolio that averages 7% can spend years underwater on the way, and the order those years arrive in changes what you end up with — this model cannot show that.
Nothing here accounts for tax. Withholding tax on dividends, capital gains tax and any wealth tax depend on your country of residence and your fund's domicile.
Trading commissions, currency conversion costs and bid-ask spreads are not included — only the ongoing percentage cost you enter.
