George is a software developer and a private investor, and the founder of Investo24 — he writes about the funds he holds himself, and builds the calculators that go with them.
He trained as a programmer and works as one, which is why this site is a set of tools as much as a set of guides: where a guide makes a claim about what something costs, the calculator that computes it sits in the same section, so a reader can put their own numbers in rather than take his on faith. He has spent years reading about index funds and ETFs — fund documentation, prospectuses and KIDs as much as books.
What he writes about is the practical side of investing from Europe: choosing between accumulating and distributing share classes, what a fund's domicile does to withholding tax, and what a fund actually costs to hold over decades rather than over a year. His own portfolio is built around broad US and global index trackers, including Vanguard's S&P 500 UCITS ETF (VUAA). Every method described here is one he runs on his own money first, rather than one he has only read about.
